La pratica artistica di Camilla Riscassi esplora il concetto di identità come un processo dinamico e in continuo cambiamento, influenzato sia dalla memoria collettiva che da quella individuale. Attraverso il recupero e la rielaborazione di materiali d’archivio, l’artista riflette su come questi frammenti del passato contribuiscano a plasmare il nostro presente, invitandoci a riflettere sulla natura complessa e sfaccettata della memoria e dell’identità.

Le immagini, i disegni, gli oggetti e i resti di vita che Riscassi raccoglie sono carichi di significato, ma al contempo privi di una lettura univoca. Grazie alla loro manipolazione, l’artista ci offre una visione di come ogni traccia conservi una memoria frammentata, che merita di essere ascoltata, reinterpretata e, talvolta, persino riscritta.Attraverso la stratificazione, l’accostamento di frammenti e la trasformazione dei dati originali viene a crearsi un dialogo tra passato e presente, riportando alla luce memorie che sembrano sepolte o dimenticate. Ogni opera diventa così un atto di ricerca, un interrogativo aperto sulla possibilità di recuperare e reinventare il ciò che è stato, ma anche un invito a riconoscere che le nostre identità sono sempre in divenire, pronte a essere mutate e ridefinite.

Camilla Riscassi’s artistic practice explores the concept of identity as a dynamic and ever-evolving process, influenced by both collective and individual memory. Through the recovery and reinterpretation of archival materials, the artist reflects on how these fragments of the past shape our present, inviting us to contemplate the complex and multifaceted nature of memory and identity.

The images, drawings, objects, and remnants of life that Riscassi collects are laden with meaning, yet they lack a single, definitive interpretation. Through their manipulation, the artist reveals how each trace holds a fragmented memory that deserves to be heard, reinterpreted, and at times, even rewritten.

The layering, juxtaposition of fragments, and transformation of the original data create a dialogue between past and present, resurrecting memories that seem buried or forgotten. Each work becomes an act of inquiry, an open question about the possibility of recovering and reinventing the past, while also acknowledging that our identities are always in flux, ready to be rewritten and redefined.
